Frigidaire microwave - PLMV169 use as a door stop?

by   badrxs ,   Aug 10, 2007

Pros:  Unplugged it is still good looking - especially next to the other Frigidaire appliances.

Cons:  Stay away from Frigidaire microwave - PLMV169 and anything with the Frigidaire badge.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

My Frigidaire microwave oven - PLMV169 was new with our home in December 2004. It is good looking especially next to the other Frigidaire appliances.
We do not use a microwave oven very often in our household of two adults and our Bichon Frise named Nygel. It is used mainly to re-heat left - overs very infrequently.
Our Frigidaire - model number PLMV169, quit working last week and now requires $275 to make it function again. The repairman suggests replacing it instead of fixing it. Replacing the transformer and a matching diode may not be a good idea because other components may fail shortly after is what I was told.
It has been our experience that Frigidaire products aren't what they used to be. We have had problems with the Frigidaire Refrigerator ($150.00) and now the microwave oven all in a period of 32 months total time.
