Freespace: The Great War

Freespace is simply one of the best fighter simulation games out there. Its everything, and covers every aspect of what you are looking for. Its so fun you will be glued to your monitor, and develop an addiction.

What I really liked about playing Freespace is how you can customize your ship and interact so well with the game, interacting your other teamates to focus on various duties, like protecting a capital ship or taking out another vessel or cargo. Equiped with nice dynamic lighting, movie-quality explosions, all in sweet detail. Another great feature is that you wont need a suped-up graphics card to fully experience the fun. The dogfighting is intense and the keyboard controls are fairly easy to master, although dogfighting will get a little annoying when you face a fast ship. Music score and quality are good, and it dosen't distract you while playing freespace, like many other sims. And to add to all that theres great online play where you can play people around the world to gain medals and become a true fighter. TIPS
When protecting large capital ships look for the bombers seeing that they will do the most damage.
Always review your weapons loadout before commiting to a mission, never rely on defaults.
Try to stay away from the action when you rearm, you might take serious damage, not to mention losing your support ship.
