Escape to the car of your dreams

Date of Review:  Oct 23, 2001
The Bottom Line: You get what you pay for...
Review: What can I say? The Ford Escape is the best SUV for the money out there. I have owned a Jeep Sport and currently own a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now that I own an Escape I can't help but feeling ripped off by Jeep.

I compared all the SUVs in in...

Decent enough for the money.

Date of Review:  Feb 14, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for 4x4 capability, without a full size SUV price and other drawbacks, go for it. Be aware, however, this isn't a limousine nor a pickup.
Review: When my wife decided it was time for a new vehicle, she had already decided on one of the compact SUV's. Having compared the Honda and Mitsubishi units, she actually fell in love with the Escape. I was not sold initially, but it was to be her...

Love my new Escape!

Date of Review:  Mar 8, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a 4 wheel drive SUV but don't want a huge car, this is the car for you. I love it!
Review: Just traded in my 99 Ford Explorer for a new 2002 Escape and I love it. While it is smaller than the new explorers, it isn't that much smaller than the 99. Head room is great (my 6'4 husband has no problem in the front). Since it is on a car...

Update: 26,000 miles

Date of Review:  Oct 29, 2002
The Bottom Line: Excellent car
Review: So far this SUV has been a pure joy to own. There have been no maintenance issues. The engine upon breaking in around 12,000 miles is smooth and getting consistant 24-28 miles to the gallon. 2WD with 16" tires.

I have put this car through...

A great little SUV

Date of Review:  Dec 16, 2002
The Bottom Line: A great little car for a decent price. Handles great and is comfortable.
Review: Coming from a family that owns two 2002 Escapes and having put nearly 10,000 miles on the cars since last March I have been very satisfied by my choice of a car for the last nine months. I keep one of the Escapes in Vail, Colorado to use when I am...

My Escape Makes Me Happy.

Date of Review:  Feb 16, 2003
The Bottom Line: What a great little SUV.
Review: I'm not going to write a high-tech review, because I don't know enough about cars to do so.

I purchased my 2002 Ford Escape at Fred Beans Ford in PA. For those of you who don't know this dealership, they are tops in customer satisfaction,...

DO NOT BUY THIS CAR

Date of Review:  May 12, 2003
The Bottom Line: Avoid this vehicle at all cost.
Review: I had a 2002 Ford Escape which almost killed me twice. This car randomly shut down several times while I was driving at 40+ miles an hour. Not only did the engine die, but the power steering and breaks as well, leaving me helpless to do anything but...

Definitely worth a test drive.

Date of Review:  Nov 6, 2001
The Bottom Line: The 2002 Escape is my first car purchase and I am very happy with it.
Review: I purchased this car in September 2002. I was fortunate enough to purchase the car through a family member and received "A-Plan" pricing. My Escape is the XLT Choice 2 model with FWD. The only option I added was the Mach sound system with an in-dash...

Ford Escape still on top for 2002? A comparison with the new CR-V and VUE.

Date of Review:  Dec 29, 2001
The Bottom Line: The Escape lacks the refinement of the others, but still has the most appeal for those who want their SUV to look like a truck.
Review: Though Honda and Toyota got a few years head start, the Ford Escape became the best-selling compact SUV just months after its introduction in the summer of 2000 as an early 2001 model. This was no mean feat, since this is the hottest segment in the...

2002 Escape: A Satisfying Vehicle

Date of Review:  May 20, 2007
The Bottom Line: Thumbs up. If you need an SUV that is roomy and comfortable yet handles well and is easy to park, the Escape is for you.
Review: Our current Escape, a silver 2002 XLT FWD with the 3.0 liter V-6, is actually our third Escape. We ordered one for my wife when they first came out in 2000. That one was a red XLT with the 3.0 liter V-6 and 4WD. It had most available options except...
