Love My Ranger
Pros:
good looks; combination of price and dependability
Cons:
I haven't experienced any.
The Bottom Line:
Consider how many of these vehicles are on the road and how long they have been there, with no hint of an end in sight.

Author's Review
My Ranger is a 1996 XLT, 3.0 V6, A/T. I wanted either a Ranger or Mazda because I think they are the best looking small trucks on the road outside of a Tacoma, but without the Tacoma price tag. I bought it used with 64,500 miles. I had some reservations, because I have never bought a vehicle with anywhere near that kind of mileage. However, I have heard of and seen Rangers going with well over 100,000 miles, and no more than I drive, I felt that its mileage should leave me more truck than I had opportunity to drive it. That was another reason to pass up the Tacoma. I have put nearly 17,000 miles on it in the three years I have owned it, and I have had no serious problems other than a leak in a hose. I experience squeaky brakes when they are wet, which is annoying, but not dangerous, and apparently a common problem with the Ranger. I am selling it now, but only because I have combined my car and my truck into one vehicle--the Explorer Sport Trac, which is a while lot Ranger itself. Nevertheless, I still enjoy hopping in my Ranger, and I will be sorry to see it go. There is no sign that it will give its new owner anything but dependable service.
I will add that I have made no serious hauling or pulling demands on this truck. If I were going to do so on even a semi-regular basis, I would get the 4.0 V6.
