Ford Built Tough!!

This is a Really Big Truck. We purchased this used in as a replacement for our 1988 Chevrolet C2500 to carry a slide-in camper. We needed a bigger truck as our Chevy (which we purchased used in 1992)turned out not to be the 3/4 Ton we thought it to be, but a Heavy-Duty 1/2 Ton. The camper weighed 1968 lb and the load limit for the Chevy was 1543.

This is a beautiful truck. It came equipped with full-length running boards and aluminum plate on the tailgate and at the front of the box. The XLT interior is gray valour captain's chairs in the front and a small bench in the rear. There is a large console in between the front seats. The Ford cassette/AM/FM stereo radio is quite adequate for the vehicle. Although not a 4WD, the running boards are a necessity for easy entry into the cab.

Acceleration is very quick for a truck this size. As 1st gear is a "Granny Low", I usually start in 2nd. Occasionally I can squeal the tires when pulling out into traffic. Stopping distances are very good, even when pulling a trailer without trailer brakes. Outward visibility is very good, although the door mirrors are not made for towing.

I have had very few problems in the 7 years I have owned it, the light switch burned out (caused by the camper) and the starter solenoid went bad. The front wheels were out of alignment when I bought it. Because of the trucks size, I had to go to a truck repair shop (i.e. 18 wheeler shop) to get the wheels aligned. I have had much fewer problems than I had with the Chevy.

This is by far the best truck I have ever owned.
