Empire Falls Review

Many of the characters in this book are confronted with mid life situations in which they seem to suddenly become aware that there life (i.e. hopes & dreams) has not gone the way they intended. They start our as a young adult with a clear idea of where they are going but 15 or 20 years later they realize they are not on the road they thought they were on.

The way characters interact with one another makes the story interesting and fun to read. I learned a lot from seeing how other people might view the world.

The setting for the story is a northeastern family town. Apparently there were a number of towns like this where one family owned everything that was worth owning in town. It was very interesting to see how this kind of situation can affect the way in which a community operates.
