Cobwebs.....

I first seen this movie years ago when it came out. I had put it out of my thoughts until recently when someone asked me what my favorite movie of all time was, of course it was "Drop Dead Fred." So I went directly to the internet and bought it.

The movie is about a girl in her late 20's who has always been dominated by her overbearing mother. This leaves her with a very submissive personality and she gets walked all over by everyone because she has lost all courage to be her own person. As a child she had an imaginary friend named Fred. He is a crazy man that loves trouble. As an adult, her husband is having an affair and wants to leave her for the "other woman." She returns home to her mother's house and finds her old Jack-in-the-box. Out pops Fred. Still just as crazy as the day when she was 6 years old and her mother locked him in there. A prime example of his crazy tactics is my title to this review, "Cobwebs." He lays on the kitchen floor, looks up her nasty mother's skirt and yells out "cobwebs." She bursts into laughter and her mother assumes she is loosing her mind.

The movie goes back and forth between current time and her childhood memories of getting into trouble with Fred. Fred has come back because she needs to find herself and have the courage to be an adult without depending on her mother or husband to make a stand for herself. In the end he helps her realize that she can stand up and take charge of her life.

I can relate so well to this movie because at the age of 4 I too had an imaginary friend and it was so real that I got upset when people didn't recognize him. This is a wholesome family entertaining movie that the entire family can watch together. This movie is absolutly hilarious. I recommend it to everyone.
