So we have owned this car for a little less than a year now, and I have to say I hate it now! I think about the only thing good about it is that the gas mileage is good! This car has extremely low power and it is quite a struggle to get up to 60! Which is the speed I go about everyday! And there have been multiple problems with the engine, one that has been going on for a few months is the engine rattles no matter what! We dont know what it is and the local dodge dealership has no idea what the problem is! The entire car shakes when it is turned on and there is a loud rattle coming from the passengers side. We are ordering some new parts to see if we can fix it. If you have any suggestions on what this problem could be, please message me. Other than that problem, this car is pretty nice. However I am pretty sure we are going to get a convertible soon so that is why we are trying to fix the rattling noise, so we can sell this car.
About a month ago our family needed to replace an awful gas guzzler, Isuzu Rodeo. We began shopping around and found an amazingly good deal on a 2003 Dodge Neon. This was the se model so everything was very basic. The windows were hand crank, and there was no cruise control. One thing I really have a problem with this car is the cooling system. We live in Arizona and the temperature hits the triple digits constantly. The cooling system is set up that it cools the two persons in the front first. The people in the back dont start to recieve any cool air for about the first one or two minuets. This is a major problem because allthough the air is very cool, it does not circulate the entire car. The heat however, seems to heat the entire car without any problems. I do like the headlights of this car. I know many people do not like them but I do mainly because they are so much different than any other car. The overhead light is very conviniet but there is no swich to turn it off when you dont want it on. The radio is very easy to control and can be programed to increase volume at higher speeds. Another problem I have with this car is there is no lever to open the trunk, and being the se model, there is no button to push to open the trunk. Dodge did come up with a solution for this by making the key removable while the car is running. I dont know if that is a feature or if it is an ignition problem, either way I like it. The trunk is very roomy and allows you to fill it full of all the junk you need to haul around. Also the rear seats fold down and can be used to haul larger items. I am aproximatly 6' 3" and I fit perfectly in this car. It is not so low to the ground that you have to almost lay down in order to get in but it is also not to high that you have to jump in. For the most part I just kind of fall into my seat and have a very soft landing on the seats. I love the seats of this car, they are very firm and are still soft, however, ours came in black which can be an awful color to clean if you live in a non-paved area. The head rests support my neck very well and can easily be ajusted to different heights. When having to back out of small areas, this car is very easy to see out of. However, there have been a few occasions in which I almost ramed another car because of a huge blind spot on the front part of the car. This is not that big of a deal but it is a word of caution.
