Still crazy after all theses years about my 2002 Dodge Neon SXT
Pros:
reliable, fun to drive, peppy, easy on the wallet at the pump. Good visability
Cons:
The older I get the harder it is to get out of,
The Bottom Line:
If you are looking for a good american made gas efficient car try one. I did and I loved it.

Author's Review
I reluctantly purchased my 2002 Dodge Neon SXT new off the lot in the summer of 2002. Having been spoiled by the comfort of a full size automobile I didn't relish the idea of driving around for the next few years in a car that wasn't half my previous cars size. My first winter in Missouri (2002) is what changed my way of thinking and how I viewed my little car. The front wheel drive performed and got me through some very hazardous road conditions, I can't remember how many Cherokees and Explorers I passed during my long drive home that afternoon in what turned out to be my first Missouri winter blizzard, traveling over some of the windiest and hilly snow and ice covered roads little car kept plowing through, and 4 hours later safely delivered me to my front door. I credit the combination of the 5 speed manual transmission and the front wheel drive that ensured my safe trip home that day. So from that day forward I never saw my little car the same way, and it had forever won my respect. Having just over 128,000 miles now on my Neon I have had one minor mechanical problem, and that is most likely due to the number of miles I drive daily, but I did have to just recently replace the brake drums. I am however happy to report that I have never experienced any electrical problems, as earlier models were reported to have trouble with, the engine never smokes, never rattles, always starts like a champ and has continued to prove itself to me every day. I don't know if I just happened to luck out and get the car that was made on a Wednesday after an employee meeting of assembly line workers on customer satisfaction and product performance, I don't know but what I do know is that this car has been one of the best cars I have ever had the pleasure to own. Even at 128,000 miles I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to hop in my Neon and go on a long road trip across country, it has been that reliable. I hate to admit it but at 36 thousand miles I did purchase an after market extended warranty at a cost of $1,700.00 and never got to use it, not once. Will I purchase another Neon in the future, probably not because it is getting harder for me to get in and out of with my current hip problems, but would I recommend it to others, you bet!
