I've Had The Time Of My Life

And I owe it all to you. I love this movie it is one of my all time favorites. I like the music, the story, and the romanticism, all of it!!

The movie takes place at a summer retreat for the well to do, like doctors and lawyers set back in the summer of 1963. The main characters are Jennifer Gray and Patrick Swayze. Gray AKA, Baby is the daughter of a well-known doctor and personal friend of the retreats owner. Gray wants to save the world and is daddy's favorite little girl. A 17 year old little girl, but still daddies girl.

Gray starts out in the movie as a shy girl who doesn't get into much trouble until she meets Patrick Swayze, AKA Johnny. Swayze is a dancer at the retreat, he and his partner perform for the guests each summer. The employees of this place are treated badly and every chance they get, they all get together and part and dance.

One night Baby sees one of the employees carrying some watermelons up the hill to the house where the party is so she offers to help. Knowing that she could get in trouble because guests were not allowed up there she went anyway. Curiosity got the best of her.

When Baby walks in the room she sees all these kids dancing rather closely to one another and has a shocked looked on her face. But them she spots Johnny and that's all she wrote!!

Penny, Johnny dance partner got pregnant by Robbie the waiter and she needed to get an abortion but didn't have the money, so Baby went to her Daddy and borrowed it. At first Penny wouldn't take the money but after Johnny caved in she took it. Baby had to take Penny's place at the Sheldrake hotel for a dance number with Johnny. Baby had no idea how to dance so Johnny had to teach her the routine.

After days and days of training the two became rather close but would not admit it yet. After somewhat completing the dance number the two returned to the retreat to find Penny in trouble. She got a botched abortion so Baby ran to get her daddy the doctor. Her father automatically assumed Johnny knocked her up and looked down on him from then on. He fixed Penny right up and became disappointed in Baby for getting involved.

Later Baby went to Johnny's cabin to talk to him and one thing led to another. She confessed her feelings to him and sparks flew. But baby's daddy couldn't know cause he would be so mad at her.

Well, needless to say after her daddy found out that Baby was sleeping with Johnny he told the family that they were leaving early. But they all complained until he gave in and they stayed.

The last night at the retreat, they had a final show for the guests. Johnny walks in and pulls Baby from the corner and told her father that nobody puts Baby in a corner. Johnny put her up on the stage and played the song "time of your life". He told the guests that he always did the final dance of the summer and this year he was going to dance with Baby.

Now that I have told you all about this movie, I will tell you that my favorite part of this movie is the very end. When Johnny came back for Baby after he had been fired. Johnny was the type of guy that women look at but never think they will get. But Johnny was different. Women used him because of his looks and all he wanted was a woman who cared about him. He found that woman in Baby.

This movie will remain in my collection for years. I know almost all the words and I can sing all the songs. It's a great movie that the whole family can watch. Not to mention that Patrick Swayze isn't too bad to look at either!!
