The Bottom Line:
As mentioned earlier, before buying make sure the SACD playback works, if that is important to you.

I purchased a DVD-2910 a couple of months ago. I was impressed w/ the build and the audio quality of the unit as noted by the other reviewers. However, I was disappointed at the SACD performance of the unit. I connected the player to a Denon AVR-3807 via HDMI. I also connected the players audio output to the AVR's Ext-In input with 5 RCA analog connectors. In playing a SACD, although the player registered the SACD by lighting the 5.1 channels on the display, however, I heard the sound only from 2 channels of L&R. It should be noted that the only time the player played the SACD was when I set the audio set up to 2 Channel instead of Multi Channel. The problem w/ this set up is that when you play DVD, instead of 5.1 channels, you only hear sound from 2 channels.
I contacted Denon at their New Jersey and Illinois offices. One of their savvy techs verified that the unit was defective. I contacted my salesman; he conveyed the problem to their buyer. The buyer tested another new player and verified that his new unit also had the same problem. My salesman took the unit back and refunded me completely. It is disappointing to see Denon releasing a player without adequate quality control. If playing SACD is important to you as it is to me, I would suggest that you audition the player before buying.
