3 Strikes...Dell is out!
Date of Review: Mar 18, 2005
The Bottom Line: Dell 3100cn BAD.
I ordered the Dell 3100cn printer for my small office hoping for a good quality color laser printer. When it arrived the set-up was fairly quick and I was able to print out a couple of good quality color prints. The next day when I returned to my office and attempted to print, the output was very blurry and had a 'water color' effect.
I called Dell 'Tech Support' who offered to send out a new set of color ink cartridges which arrived the next day. They didn't however correct the problem.
After another hour on the phone on hold then with 'Customer Care' and 'Tech Support' they agreed to send out a new printer.
The new printer took almost two weeks to arrive and was DEAD ON ARRIVAL..It wouldn't even allow me to load the ink cartridges.
Another couple of hours on hold and with 'Customer Care' and they decided to send out a THIRD printer.
The third printer arrived and the setup went smoothly. I was able to print after a minimum amount of effort. Then I noticed that every page had eight little dots running horizontally across the middle! EVERY PAGE!
Another couple of hours on the phone and Dell agreed to send out a service technician to look at the printer. When the Technician arrived he figured the printer needed a new drum and that he would order one which might arrive in a few days.
After alot of frustration and wasted time I called Dell and sent the printer back for a refund.
I have Purchased a Lexmark c510. The print quality is really great, it's faster than the Dell and best of all it works!
