Author's Review
I first tried this liquor at a cocktail party. There was a bottle of it on the bar, and I have always liked things with a butterscotch flavor so I wanted to give it a try. I wasn't quite sure what I should mix it with, so I poured a small amount into a cup to see exactly what it would taste like and get a better idea. The smell of this was fantastic-sweet and buttery and just like a butterscotch candy which I love. I brought the cup to my lips and tasted a liquid form of the candy.
The liquor was thick, which surprised me because it was fairly clear and didn't seem to pour thick. I assumed that this was because of the syrupy sugar that it was made of. There was none of the usual kick at the end of the taste, just a warm, sweet taste. The sweetness was fairly strong, though, enough so I could never just drink it on ice-the watering down of the liquor from the ice wouldn't complement the flavor at all, but it was fairly thick on its own.
A friend of mine solved this problem that night by doing this in shots. Either by itself or mixed with another liquor, like Kahlua, it is a tasty way to have a shooter without all of the alcoholic results. It has a low alcohol content, only a 30 proof, and even straight this wouldn't get into your system all that much.
Another great way to enjoy this is in a coffee or hot chocolate. If you like your warm drinks flavored, and want to warm them up a bit more, I definitely think that this is a good choice. With some cookies or pastry, it can make for a wonderful evening treat.
I wouldn't pick this up if your are looked to get bombed, but if you want to relax a bit and enjoy a rich butterscotch flavor, give it a try.
