~~ NESTLE UP SNUG & WARM WITH THE VORNADO DVTH COMPACT HEATER ~~
Date of Review: Jan 8, 2008
The Bottom Line: Stay warm this winter with a safe and fast little heater!
This is the time of year where I like to play "Chilly Willy The Penguin"..I walk around the house, shivering and pouting because the house is so large and drafty, and my husband doesn't mind keeping the thermostat on 65 degrees. So, to make my point (and to stay warm when he is home), I wrap a blanket around my shoulders and let him know how f-f-f-freezin it is....
Well, that only worked for so long. Like every man, he just decided to fix this in his own way. Not by raising the temperature overall in the home, but by buying me my own personal heater, the Vornado. We have had little heaters in the past that have broke on us, so there were no complaints from me! (Now, of course, while he is at work, I crank the heat, but that is another story!). The Vornado is probably one of the best personal heaters I have ever seen. It has a much wider range, and is not limited like other models.
The Vornado has no safety issues for me ~ there is no oil getting hot, no wires that get orange and dangerously warm. It is just hot air, blowing and circulating in all directions, at a rate of 5,118 BTUS per hour, taking only minutes to get a small room toasted up!! I use it for my cold feet, and tote it around for watching tv, or playing on the computer. I feel safe enough to leave it on overnight because it has a safety sensor that will automatically shut it off if anything comes in contact with it or if it tips over. It also is cool to the touch, with little to no risk of it ever overheating or causing a safety hazard.
It sounds silly, but I also use this little model when I take a shower. Of course, we have vents, but it gets so cold when stepping out, that I really can't take it! So, this not only gets the room perfect and warm, but it does not suck the energy out of the fuse box when I blow dry my hair using the same electrical system. It only uses about 1,500 watts thanks to the digital thermostat that regulates the amount of energy needed to flow. Which is good news to my electric bill!
This weighs 5 pounds, is very light and portable, and easy to place on a table top, and is wonderful for kid's drafty bedrooms, the bathroom, your home office, or any tiny nook that needs a little extra heat. My feet are now Happy Feet!
