D-link wireless G router WBR 1310 installs in a flash!
Date of Review: Mar 8, 2008
The Bottom Line: This is a quick and easy way to set your wireless home computer system up.
The D-link WBR-1310 router is a great buy and surpassed all my expectations. Typically when I purchase computer related items, I am fully prepared for a hideous session of technical problems that will only be solved after reaching some 800 number tech support.
Well, NOT THIS TIME! The D-link 1310 router is packaged in a consumer friendly manner that acknowledges the reality that all of us do not have certification in advanced programming. The D-link router comes with a CD install program that takes you through the simple procedure to begin your wireless internet connection.
When you take the router from the box, there is a simple connector cord that is plugged into the back of the box...and the on screen setup provides animated illustrations showing EXACTLY where he plug is to be attached. The program even waits for you to click "OK" for the next step(and there are only about 5 steps total). You should be able to complete the setup in five minutes...really.
I bought a laptop earlier and decide to go with the wireless setup...so I bought the D-link 1310(one on the least expensive on the market at $59).
I already had a desktop computer, so the new laptop was to run off the main modem. Again, the CD asks what type setup you are curently using.
On a consumer savings aspect, the salesman was pushing for me to use their "in home setup" service (at $200!) to get everything "configured". He told me if I had never set up a router, I might want to hire them as it was "quite a job" for an amateur. NOT SO. It was a breeze. Anyone could set this up in less than five minutes. The install was flawless. I flipped open the laptop and hit "connect internet" and that was it. Fully operational.
A bonus that I had not realized was that two people can be using two different computers in the house(on the same service) and both use the internet for different projects!
If you've been thinking of going wireless, this is an easy way to get there! Forget images of phone calls to tech support...the install program is effective and simple.
