The Bottom Line:  Buy this mixer and you won't have to go shopping for another one for years. Feel the power!

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought this mixer six months ago at Home Outfitters. I have been so incredibly impressed with it that I would recommend it to anyone, and I am confident this mixer will last for years.

You're asking yourself, "But does she use the mixer like I do? Is she just easily impressed?"

When I was young, we had a handheld mixer that had been inherited from my grandparents. It sounds impressive, and it would have been, if it had worked. The power cord was wrapped with black electrician's tape in places, the control was wobbly, and it had about as much torque as a tadpole. Which is to say, none. If we tried to mix anything heavier than whipping cream, it would actually grind to a halt. Dad didn't want us to buy a new mixer as long as that one actually "worked". Now I realize I should have helped retire it, perhaps with a hammer...

I moved away from home and bought a cheap mixer, still a brand name. It was much better than the first one I'd used. However, the cheap metal beaters began to rust in a few years, and one day it just died.

Finally I decided that you get what you pay for, and I got a Cuisinart. I hoped it would be a good mixer, but really I wasn't expecting much.

I was blown away by the torque. When you flip the switch, hold on tight because it means business! The speed goes up to 5, but frankly I've rarely needed to go above 3. It generates a real breeze out the back exhaust, you might want to watch for that if you leave piles of flour on your counter!

This blender is smart and instead of stalling when it hits tough stuff, it "changes gears" just like a car going uphill and gets the job done. It zips through everything I can throw at it.

Here's a critical thing that for some reason isn't seen much in mixers these days: the eject button for the beaters is *separate* from the speed switch. So many cheap blenders (and some expensive ones) have this "feature" where if you push in on the speed control, the beaters eject. You only have to accidentally do this once while trying to change the speed to realize how inconvenient and dangerous it can be.

I'm right-handed, but when doing a lot of mixing I like to switch to the left hand, so the swivel cord is a nice feature.

Another nice feature is that the standard beaters don't have a middle post. Cleanup is so easy! I haven't used the dough hooks or the whisk attachment yet, the standard beaters do everything I want to do.
