Too light to be a paper weight
Date of Review: Sep 23, 2007
The Bottom Line: Avoid. The player never accepted a song, nor a charge even after returning for servicing. Creative tells me it may be my computer, although the other MP3 all work fine.
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas as her first MP3 player. It was a spur of the moment decision as the player I wanted was not available.
First I found out that the software could not be run on our older computer, something I could not read on the case without my glasses. The website seemed to promise software downloads that would fix the problem, but nothing worked. So I bought a new computer a year earlier than I planned.
Loaded the software, and immediately found out that the player would not charge, or be recognized by the computer. Visited the website again, and tried all the suggestions. Contacted customer support, and received same list of suggestions. Tried on and off for several months, as my daughter liked the idea of seeing photos on her MP3 player and wanted to keep it.
Finally, I asked to return it so they could fix battery. For $25 they charged the battery so that I could find other problems. The device recognizes when it is plugged in as it turns itself on, but despite numerous troubleshooting attempts the player is not recognized by our computer.
After the latest suggestion from Creative that I should delete and reload the drivers for all my USB connections I gave up. It took me one and a half hours to get a SANSA C240 MP3 player up and running with music and photos loaded. This included driving to and from the store, choosing a player and ripping some songs my daughter would like.
