Since 1979, CND has developed professional products and services for the beauty industury, concentrating on products for hands, feet and nails. They are originally an American company, who are now just as popular all over the world, including the UK. They are one of the most popular and I must say the best brand of products for hands, feet and nails in the industury. If you go to salons quite regularly or are in the beauty industury, it is likely you will have heard or even used Creative Nail Design. I use their products for all things hands, feet and nails and will never use anything else as I know the standards of other products don't even come close.

What is Solar Oil?

Solar Oil is a synergistic blend of four naturally light essential oils and Vitamin E, designed to deeply penetrate and protect nails and skin. It comes in a more liquidous form than other oils like massage oils and cooking oils.

Solar Oil contains Jojoba Oil which helps Vitamin E penetrate deeply into the skin to help prevent cellular damage and reduce visible signs of aging. Naturally light oils keep skin soft and supple. Jojoba Oil draws Rice Bran Oil and Sweet Almond Oil into natural nails, nail enamel and nail enhancements to keep them tough and flexible. Repeated use drives oils deeper into natural nails and nail enhancements, maximizing the benefits and preventing probems.

SolarOil has won the Best Cuticle Oil for the third year running in the prestigious In-Style 2008 Best Beauty Awards which gives it the cult Hall of Fame recognition.

Use and Effects

It is recommended for use on natural nails to keep them looking and feeling healthy as it promotes healthy nail growth. It is also a must have for acrylic or gel nails as it helps to prevent them from drying out and lifting. It helps your natural nail underneath remain strong and healthy. When you get acrylic nails done, it takes 24 - 48 hours for the product to fully cure, even though it feels dry immediately. You should use Solar Oil three to four times in the first 24 hours, which will keep oxygen out of the product, which is what can cause those nasty air bubbles in the acrylic and it also results in faster cure rates which in the long run results in longer lasting nails. After a while when you have acrylic on your nails, it can lift up at the edges, this is due to the plate no longer receiving oil and moisture from the nail bed. When your dried out plate comes in contact with water or moisture, it sucks it up, making the plate expand, the plate then dries out and contracts and the plate then begins peeling and looses its shape, pulling away from the nail that it's attached to and this then results in cracking and breaking. Solar Oil prevents this from happening, all from just using it a few times a day on the nails. Solar Oil also ensures the the acrylic nail remains strong and flexible. Not using the oil on your acrylics is similar to not having shocks on your car, every impact is amplified which makes the product more prone to form cracks or break. Solar Oil is designed to penetrate through the enhancement to act as a shock absorber and a lubricant for the product.

I use this on my own nails, which I have acrylic nails on and also where I work at a beauty salon and always apply it to a clients nails after a manicure and pedicure to make sure the nail is rehyrated and kept healthy. I also always use it on clients with acrylic or gel nails and recommend them to purchase it, and any client who has, is always coming back and agrees that it really makes a difference to not having it and think it's fantastic.

The bottle looks quite similar to a nailvarnish bottle and you apply it with a brush that looks like that of a nail varnish brush, so it is very simple to use, and unlike nailvarnish, you don't have to worry about it going past the area you meant to apply it to. You should apply it to your nails as much as you can, preferably at least twice daily. You could apply it as many times as you want, but try and aim for at least that. Apply it to your cuticles and rub into the rest of your nail. You could even use this to massage with. It can also be used on an dry areas on your body as it has a high moisture content it is fabulous for dry areas, you can even use it on your lips to prevent or relieve chapping or dryness. The best time to use Solar Oil is before going to bed so the oil can really penetrate. It is also good to use 10 minutes before getting into water to help seal the nail plate to prevent moisture absorbing.

When you apply it to your nails, it doesn't feel greasy or drip off. If you have severe dryness you can apply extra and wait for it to absorb, but this will obviously feel a little greasy straight away. Solar Oil absorbs quickly into your skin, and immediately leaves your skin and nails feeling soft, supple and smooth. It really hydrates your skin and instantly relieves any tight feeling your skin may have due to dryness. Due to the content of Sweet Almond Oil, it smells delicious, just like marzipan, is the only way I can describe it. I am allergic to nuts including almonds, but somehow I am not allergic to this product, which I am so pleased about! Solar Oil will shrink back your cuticle making it more soft and supple all the while helping to prevent hangnails, which can cause soreness to some people, if left.

Solar Oil comes in a variety of sizes: 1/8 fl. oz. (236 mL) 0.25 fl. oz. (7.3 mL) 0.5 fl. oz. (15 mL). The picture shown is the 15ml one. The largest one is a salon size and the smaller two are usually sold in salons to customers. The large on can be purchased for about £34.00, but this trade price and the smaller ones are sold ranging from £5-15, also depending where it is purchased from. You can buy Solar Oil from any salon that uses Creative products or some sites on the internet also stock it, but these can prove quite costly. Unless you have a Creative trade account you will however be unable to purchase it directly from them, but this doesn't mean they don't want non-trade people to have it. Also if you are interested in this product Creative stock a similar product called SolarBalm, it is SolarOil but in the form of a balm, it works the same way but has deeper effects, so it's good to have both these products as they work well together.

Conclusion

Solar Oil is truley a fantastic product that I would recommend to anyone, male or female who cares about the condition of their nails. I personally couldn't live without it and I know alot of my clients feel the same. It is very simple to use and really helps protect, restore and ensure your nails are kept at their healthiest. Although it is quite expensive, you only have to use a small amount so it lasts a long time, I would say a small one for a client using it only, would last at least 6 months, so when you think of it that way it isn't too much at all. There are other similar products on the market but they just don't work the same, you pay for what you get in my opinion.
