Product Review

Pros:  Fits well in PCI slot

Cons:  Outdated software, very difficult to configure, very poor support

The Bottom Line:  This is an example of misleading information on the product box and the refusal of a Co. to make it right.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

This modem was not my choice but via a sales rep at the local department store I decided to purchase it. The box lists Windows XP on it and lists great features, not either have I been able to set up after thirty days. I am a fairly advanced user being able to design and assemble my own computers. The biggest delay comes from the E-mail support at Creative Labs. I have one request still pending on Sept. one that I sent Aug. five! The modem may be outdated by the time I get a reply.
Another major problem; It does not come with software for Windows XP but states on the box the modem works with WinXP. When I contacted the software co. they said I had to purchase an updated version because they never intended the software to work with Win XP. This made me feel cheated. The reply from Creative Labs was that the box states it may require software upgrade, in fine print. At the time I purchased the modem I assumed as had been the rule, they were refering to the need to download drivers, not purchase new software! Then Creative labs said that they thought the software would work but have never stated how. So...I bought another brand modem that was very easy to install and did not come with outdated software. Because of this puchase I have one of the most expensive modems in our computer club.
