For me, Cirque Touchpads are the only way to go!

I started using Cirque Touchpads about 15 years ago, and I have never willingly used a mouse since. As a consultant and trainer, I often use other's equipment, and so am continuously reminded of how much time and motion is wasted by mice, and wonder why this low-tech rodent is still so popular. One answer may be that not many people have ever been exposed to touchpads. What's not to like? There are no moving parts to break down. You don't need a special surface to move them on. Since you don't have a mouse pad taking up space and, in fact, you don't move them at all, they free up a tremendous amount of valuable desktop real estate. I usually work with my feet up and my keyboard with built-in touchpad in my lap. I can still use the separate touchpad reviewed here and be comfortable, but there is no where to run a mouse. Conceptually, it is much easier than a mouse: you just point with your finger and when you get to the right place, stop and tap your finger - no mouse to grab and move, no buttons to click. No carpal tunnel problems. And they are virtually indestructable, 15 years later I can still use my first one. I've never had a single malfunction with any of my Cirque touchpads, and I've never had an interface problem - they are totally plug and play, there is no installation.
