The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

Date of Review:  Apr 25, 2006
The Bottom Line: This is a great film about the fantastic world of Narnia, involving an interesting story, and a well-thought-out plot.
Review: The beloved story of The Chronicles of Narnia was injected with steroids and given the star treatment with an updated version of one of its classic tales. Chosen from the group of books was The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, and it was adapted...

Narnia Comes Out of the Closet

Date of Review:  Jul 10, 2006
The Bottom Line: Brilliant adaptation of a brilliant book
Review: Many (many, many...) years ago, I was a 10-year-old attending school in Northern England. We were going to do a class reading, and the teacher picked 3 books for us to choose between. I thought The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis...

Love that Lion! (Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe)

Date of Review:  Mar 21, 2007
The Bottom Line: this is a great family movie that adults and kids can enjoy, including pre-teens if they are not too sensitive about fight scenes and death
Review: I love the Lion in this movie, especially his deep, resonant voice. He is the centerpiece of an adventure in which four children learn about courage, hope and family.

I don t quite understand why this film is rated PG ( For battle...

Narnia: the land of endless winter is finally cured

Date of Review:  May 19, 2007
The Bottom Line: A great adaptation that could been a bit better, but is enjoyable all the same
Review: Like many children, I was always familiar C.S. Lewis and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. I don't know if I ever read the other books, but this one was a childhood staple. When I heard that they were finally making a movie adaptation of it, I...

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe Supercedes its Capabilities

Date of Review:  Jan 24, 2006
The Bottom Line: is generous.
Review: I must inform of you of three things:

1. I disbelieve The Chronicles of Narnia were destined for cinema.
2. I'm not a Narnia myrmidon.
3. I don't judge film adaptations on their resemblance to the novels.

I've read the...

The Bottom Line: Very well-done! Bravo!
Review: Story: During the bombing of London in World War Two, four children are sent out to the countryside, by their mother, to live with the Professor, on his vast estate. Bored, and having been told, by the strict housekeeper, to not bother the...

A Visual Splendour

Date of Review:  Dec 15, 2005
The Bottom Line: Faithful and visually splendid adaptation of a magical adventure full of wonder that will delight and entertain the whole family, from the youngest child to the most blase adult
Review: When the four Pevensie siblings (Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy) are sent to the country to escape the bombing of war-torn London, little did they realise that they were about to be catapulted into an epic adventure in another dimension -the strange...

Confessions of a Narnia Fanatic

Date of Review:  Dec 15, 2005
The Bottom Line: An epic movie based on a classic book. Worth every penny to see it multiple times.
Review: Ever since I first discovered Narnia in the third grade, I have loved this series of seven novels. While I have read through the series several times, this book remains my favorite and I have read it more then any other.

Naturally, when I...

The Chronicles of Disappointment: Part 1

Date of Review:  Mar 25, 2006
The Bottom Line: With its childish plot, stiff acting and utter lack of character development, the first "Chronicles of Narnia" disappoints an adult audience.
Review: Peter Jackson destroyed any legitimate chance "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" had of being a decent film. Jackson's cinematic masterpiece of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy set the bar obscenely - and rightly - high...
