Modern day value

Date of Review:  May 4, 2006
The Bottom Line: Great starter car for new drivers. Also a great value for those on a limited income. Recommended for these kinds of buyers.
Review: The Past
Many, many years ago (the 1980's), cars like the Honda Civic and Toyota Tercel were considered great economy cars for your dollar. With an engine size at around 1.5L, they made well under 100 horsepower; but the handling was nimble,...

I rescind my prior positive comments

Date of Review:  Jul 4, 2008
The Bottom Line: Avoid the vehicle. Spot checking on the web reveals many disparate problems with the car and dealership and it's not worth the risk.
Review: UPDATE (8/8/2008): While dealers are not cars, they are an inevitable part of buying and living with a car, so I felt the need to provide an update on my trials with this vehicle and the dealership.

On May 20th, 2008 I initially took the...

Barbie Dream Car It is NOT

Date of Review:  Dec 3, 2007
The Bottom Line: I wouldn't recommend this car as someone's first new car but if you could get a reasonably priced used, one, it is easy on gas.
Review: This was my first new car, I was really excited by its cute design, which lead to it being granted the nick name. . . the Barbie Dream Car, because of its cutesy-outer appearance. In reality it is like the Barbie Dream Car because it is cheap, made...

In Canada, it is a Pontiac Wave Lemon

Date of Review:  Apr 22, 2006
The Bottom Line: DON'T GO NEAR IT!
Review: If anyone reading here is familiar with my other cars, they will note that I rarely buy anything new. Well, I recently did! The old Torquemobile finally died and it was not worth spending $2500 for a new transmission for a car with a zillion km on...

Commuters Dream Car

Date of Review:  Apr 19, 2006
The Bottom Line: Good for the commuter who isn't into power under the hood.
Review: I recently had a 2006 Chevrolet Aveo as a rental and i must say that despite it being very small and very minimal, it was a decent ride. I drove the base model with the automatic transmission. Being 6-2, even renting a car can be a hassle, but I fit...

Just a basic car

Date of Review:  Jul 4, 2007
The Bottom Line: Cheap basic transportation
Review: My 1993 ford ranger just hit 250,000 miles and i figured it was time for a new car. after some searching i reluctantly looked at the Aveo. It was basic, cheap, and not all that bad to drive, and most important GMAC would finance me. that is what...

Great car for the price

Date of Review:  Mar 8, 2007
The Bottom Line: Great car for students and a good first car for teens.
Review: I purchased this car in August of 2006 after researching the 2004 and 2005 models. I decided to get a new 2006 model because of the side airbags and safety ratings.
The car gets great gas mileage. I wouldn't hesitate to take a road trip with my...

The Chevy Aveo ROCKS!

Date of Review:  Sep 18, 2006
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to anyone who likes great gas mileage, a skippy look and doesn't have anything to put in the back seat (for safety)
Review: I was given my 2006 Chevy Aveo for our wedding anniversary by my husband. He is well aware that I prefer compact (or subcompact) to anything larger, but we do have kids, so rear room was important. Also, when shopping in this market of small cars he...

A Cute BIG Small Car !

Date of Review:  Nov 23, 2006
The Bottom Line: If you need a cute little economy car to get from point A to B,this is good choice, for the price. Not a Honda, but not the price either!
Review: I own the 2006 Aveo 4 door HATCHBACK version, with an automatic trans. A/C, single CD player, and little else in the way of factory options. I have put on my own OEM side molding, tint, satellite radio, hood protector, and OEM splash guards. Much...

A car with no trunk latch!

Date of Review:  Jun 4, 2006
The Bottom Line: Avoid!
Review: I rented this car from Hertz for my vacation in Florida. We drove from Atlanta to Orlando (about 400 mi). Honestly, I did not see one good thing about this car. Here's why:

1. Bumpy ride and not at all comfortable for long journey!
