Author's Review
I purchased my 2005 Cobalt Coupe just over two years ago now. I am a 20 yr old college student so this car is made pretty much directly for my segment. After driving the Civic and Corrolla before taking this one for a spin i was quite impressed with both of them. After driving my LS Coupe for the first time, i was astounded at the difference. For a four-banger it is very peppy and quite aggressive. With the tires available through purchasing the sport package the car becomes quite nimble. Fit and finish is excellent and i have yet to have any problems.
It is not a fuel efficient as its asian competitors...but hey, its fuel economy, with a nice dose of zip. The track sheets do show that the cobalt is quicker then the Civic, Corrolla, and even the mazda 3 sedan with their respective base engines. When was the last time a civic owner heard someone refer to there car as being beautiful? The price gap between buying a base model cobalt against a base model civic is in the thousands of dollars. The extra 4 mpg city does not justify the price.
Two years on, i could not have asked for a more fun to drive, fuel efficient, quick, and beautiful looking car then the Chevrolet Cobalt.
Articles show the cobalt as being just another inefficient piece of american garbage . While they keep saying so, ill still be having fun in my Cobalt Coupe...and passing them in the fast lane...
