Very pleased with the Aveo

I purchased my Aveo in Sept of '05. I had previously had a '03 Olds Alero but it was flooded out by Hurricane Katrina. At first this wasn't the type of car I would have bought. It seemed small and cheap looking, especially the 4 door sedan.

When the salesman showed me the 5 door hatchback however, I started to change my mind. Once you get into it, it doesn't seem that small anymore. It has nice headroom. The dash was a little strange at first but now I like it. It's unusual and very easy to read. The steering wheel doesn't obstruct the view of it. I also like the placement of the A/C vents. In most cars, the vents are blocked by the steering wheel but not in this one. The radio and cd player are also very nice.

I like how the back seat of the hatchback can fold all the way up to give you plenty of cargo space in the back. You have to make sure that you secure the items you have back there because they might move around too much. The backseat also might be a bit uncomfortable over long trips as it's right over the back axle.

The ride is pretty much like a small car. It does however ride a bit smoother than other small cars I have had in the past. The suspension seems to be a bit better even over bumps. The cornering is also quite good even with the standard 14 inch tires.

The engine is 103 hp but performs very well and has good exceleration. it is also easy to maintain with everything clearly marked. The oil is also easy to check.

The one thing I really liked was the sun glass holder above the driver door. That was a nice little touch. Over all this is a nice little inexpensive car that saves tons on gas.
