Great Car-UV

Date of Review: Oct 26, 2008

The Bottom Line:  For the money, HHR gives a lot of bang (and fun) for your dollar.  A well though out and well executed vehicle. Chevy and GM did great on this one.
I purchased my 2008 HHR 2LT new off the lot in early March this year. I am very happy with this car. It is solidly built with a quality feel to it, has eye catching styling (and no, it does NOT look exactly like a PT Cruiser!), has lots of neat extras like On-Star, built in satellite phone, XM Radio, power everything, heated leather seats, remote start, sport suspension, foglamps: that's just for starters. I keep the car well maintained and I drive the car as a smaller car, not like it is a Porsche or F150! This car has plenty of pep and power when using 89 octane. I have always been able to zoom from an on-ramp onto the oncoming highway traffic during morning rush hour in Boston without fear of getting creamed by some gigantic SUV or tractor trailer! (the manual states you should use 89 octane, but you can opt to use 87 octane safely, you will notice less pep) The interior is comfortable and versatile, and all in all, I am thrilled with this car-uv. All of the seats (except driver's) fold down flat and I am able to fit a full sized 1960's stereo console (furniture) in back WITH an 8 foot ladder along side it...all inside the car! I have put 16K miles on the car with no problems at all...one time I needed to bring the car in for a slight rotor drum adjustment on one of the brakes, but no money out of my pocket. The car rides great. Like a much larger vehicle, and having rented Corollas and other small Japanese and Korean imports...the HHR has it all over them. I'm still averaging about 32 mph highway and 25 city. It is a fun, pleasureable car to have. This is the only small wagon-like car on the market that is built by an American company. (although truthfully, they are assembled in Mexico)
