Three sisters living in San Francisco find out the family secret. Phoebe the youngest sister is up in the attic after moving back and finds a big book and after reading an incantation the three sisters are imbue with magical powers that were awakened revealing them to be not only witches but Charmed Ones.

Prue played by Shannen Doherty is the eldest sister with the power to move things with her mind. At first she isn't too crazy about being a witch but she ends up embracing it. Shannen has been a familiar face on various shows through the years most notably as Brenda Walsh on 90210.

Holly Marie Combs plays Piper the middle sister. She has the power to freeze time which comes in handy when her boyfriend turns out to be a warlock that wants her dead. She is a cook and a reluctant witch. She starred on Picket Fences as Kim Brock.

Alyssa Milano wasn't the first choice but I'm glad the won the role. She plays the baby of the family Phoebe who's a bit of a wild child. She's the one most into the whole witch thing. Her power isn't active since she gets premonitions. Fans will remember her from shows such as Who's The Boss and Melrose Place among other things.

The three use magic to help people. It's a positive take on witchcraft although unfortunately to the best of my knowledge time can't be frozen which would be so cool because it would come in handy.
