The Canon EF 35-135mm USM is the "Affordable" Alternative

Date of Review:  Mar 29, 2006
The Bottom Line: If you can't afford this awesome lens, you could look for a nice used EF 35-135mm f/4-5.6 USM as an excellent alternative.
Review: The Canon EF 28-135 IS USM is a GREAT lens, but it might be a little bit too expensive for some photogs on a limited budget. The Canon EF 35-135mm f/4-5.6 USM is the "Affordable" Alternative. This very compact telephoto zoom lens is relatively light...

Great lens for film-based or digital SLR camera

Date of Review:  Oct 27, 2003
The Bottom Line: An all round lens for both your ordinary film-based or digital SLR Canon camera. Good optics.
Review: I have been using this lens for over 4 years and it never failed me. Now that I am switching over to digital SLR, the new Canon EOS 300D, I am still using it for my primary lens. Only on specific conditions that I am using my other lenses,...

Lens review

Date of Review:  Dec 23, 2003
The Bottom Line: If you want a good one-lens package, this is it!
Review: I've had this lens for a while now so I thought I'd share my experiences. The first time I saw this lens was in my local camera shop attached to an EOS 3 body. I tried it out and found that the IS feature was quite noisy. It was a kind of rattle. I...

A Great Performing Lens

Date of Review:  Jun 9, 2003
The Bottom Line: This lens is a great value
Review: Photography has been a hobby of mine for several years. About 2 years ago, I bid farewell to the point & shoot and jumped into the SLR world. I bought a Rebel 2000 and began to experiment with the creative possibilities that controlling shutter...

Canon EF 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM - Great All-Around Lens!

Date of Review:  Dec 16, 2007
The Bottom Line: The Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM is a fantastic lens for the semi-professional. You will not be disappointed.
Review: I am an amateur photographer that has recently purchased my first digital SLR camera. I have the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi, and am very satisfied with it. I have gone through two primary lenses before coming to the Canon EF 28-135mm lens. The...

Great wide-mid tele IS lens

Date of Review:  Apr 25, 2002
The Bottom Line: Great lens but I cannot justify the price. I sold my Tamron lens so I ended up paying $200 + old lens.
Review: I don't know if I have a need for IS in 28mm since depth of field at wide angle is less shallow compared to 50mm and up. I have enjoyed using the image stabilizer at 135mm. Until I acquired this lens, I either gave up shooting in dim light or...

Great lens

Date of Review:  Nov 29, 2005
Review: This lens is a beauty to own and use!

I currently use the lens with my Canon 20D. The lens and the camera make for a sturdy package. The lens is the perfect walk around lens (provided you don't need to go too wide on the angle), and is...

Excellent lens

Date of Review:  Oct 6, 2000
Review: I have been using this lens for a couple of years now, and have had nothing but good luck. It's a sharp lens, and the IS feature adds to its ease of use (as I don't always have to lug a 20 lb tripod around) and it covers the vast majority of focal...

A really nice all-around lens

Date of Review:  Jan 7, 2008
The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this lens if you are a serious amateur and are looking for a great walk-about lens at a reasonable price.
Review: This is definitely one of those lenses that most amateurs can put on the camera and leave there for years; it offers a very useful zoom range, high image quality, very impressive color retention and great contrast.

I am a professional...

Great consumer short zoom lens.

Date of Review:  Jul 28, 2004
Review: I mainly use the Tamron 28-105 F2.8 zoom as my main lens on my Digital Rebel. I keep this Canon 28-135 IS on my Canon A2 (film). I like the overall quality of the lens, it focuses quickly, it's light, and not nearly as big/bulky as the tamron but...
