even the warranty replacement unit broke day 1

Hi. I've worn out several bread machines over 15 years and was very disappointed in this model. The first one I bought had the problem of the pan's popping out of it's clips from the first day. Bending the clips helped, usually, but I could never leave it alone. About three months later the touch pad started acting up, sometimes working and sometimes not. Then it just died. Power was getting to the unit, but the controls did nothing. The company ignored my contacts by email, and then I finally got someone on the phone to give me a return authorization and prepaid postage. I returned it under warranty. I received no response for over a month, then cards came telling me it would be 2 weeks before it would ship. A new card came every month. Finally five months later (six in all) a unit was delivered. It looked like a refurbished model. I made one loaf of bread. The pan popped out at least ten times and no bending of clips stopped it. Then the touch pad died. I got the run around on the phone. They were very familiar with the "popping out pan" and implied that my dough was too dry or that it was my fault. This is faulty engineering at its worst. Bread machines are wonderful. Look elsewhere. I will never deal with Salton again.
