Introduction
Trying to find the right kind of electric shaver that will do a great work is very tough because there are a lot of different brands on every store's shelf and to make things more complicated each brand like Braun, Norelco and Remington have a lot of different models at different prices.
The Braun FreeControl 1775 (1000 series) model is the latest electric shaver that I bought. I'll try to help you to make the right buying decision by comparing the Braun 1000 series with the higher price Braun Syncro 7526 Electric Shaver and the Remington MS-280 electric shaver.
What happened?
When my Remington MS-280 electric shaver finally died, I had to make the choice to buy another Remington MS-280 or to buy a different brand. I went back to Walmart to buy another Remington electric shaver and the price of the Remington MS-280 went up to $59.95! Apparently when I bought the Remington Electric Shaver for $39.95, because it was on sale and it was no longer on sale. Next to it was the Braun 1775 (1000 series) that cost only $35.95, since I didn't really want to spend $59.95 on the Remington, I decided to buy the Braun 1000 series.
What Do I Like about the Braun 1775 FreeControl Electric Shaver?
- The Braun 1775 FreeControl has been running now for 5 months without any problem. It is basically problem free for now. The built-in rechargeable battery hasn't blown up on me yet, which I hope it never will. Before my $129 the Braun Syncro 7526 battery blew up on me when I was recharging it, I thought that the more expensive model of Braun was supposed to be better. I was wrong, the Braun 1000 series is a lot more durable than the 7000 series!
- The price is right. The price of the 1775 series is a lot cheaper than the 7000 series. I spent over $129 to buy the Braun Syncro 7526 and it died within 2 months and I spent only $35.95 to buy the Braun 1775, so price wise, if something happened to the Braun 1775, I won't feel so bad because the price is pretty cheap.
- The Braun 1000 series is a lot more durable than the 7000 series because so far, the 1775 model has performed a lot longer than the 7526 model.
- It comes with a hair and beard trimmer which is a great feature. It also comes with a plastic cover to cover the blade top part.
- The recharging time is very short! It takes only an hour (60 minutes) to fully recharge the battery which is great. If you want to do a quick charge, it takes only 5 minute to do a quick shaving job.
- It does a very clean shaving job! I am extremely surprised about the quality of shaving job that the Braun 1000 series does, it is not as perfect as a Gillette Turbo blade, but when I am in a hurry and I don't have the time to do regular blade shaving, I can just grab the Braun 1775 and do a quick and clean shave.
- It is is very comfortable to hold. The rubber grips really gives comfortable sensation when you hold the shaver.
- It is a water-proof shaver and it does wet or dry shave. I can use it to shave with my gel shaving cream or without it. After I am done shaving, I can rinse the hair off by rinsing the blade with water. It is very easy to clean. From my experience, when they say the shaver is water-proof, it doesn't mean that the blade is water-proof. After you rinse the blade with water, you have to make sure that you will dry the blade or it will rust!
What I don't like about it
The only problem that I don't like about the Braun 1000 series, it doesn't really do a total clean shave, there are some hair spots that need to be taken care of by using regular Gillette Turbo blade. Remington MS-280 electric shaver does a lot better job than the Braun 1775. Like I said, if you are in a hurry, this Braun 1000 electric shaver does a pretty good job.
Will I recommend the Braun 1775 to my friend and family?
Yes, I will recommend this electric shaver to my friends and family because the price is right and the quality of the shave is amazing for its price.
