Great buy/Impressed
Date of Review: Dec 26, 2006
The Bottom Line: Recommended! -great sound when properly set up. looks wonderful!
received as a present, i think this system is great. i use these speakers for my PC audio and they sound wonderful. as many times said, these are easy listening speakers. in my opinion, they arent made to deliver the impact and experience of bookshelf speakers.
I Recently blew my polk Rti4's(being repaired) and received this as a replacement gift from a friend. The sound is impressive for the size of the cubes. They give a pretty wide soundstage but imaging isnt so great.
Although the bass module picks up lower frequncies, its slight and you can only hear it if you're very close to it. its placed directly under my table so the soundstage/imaging wont be unbalanced. plus i have a real subwoofer to assist the sub frequencies. a ten inch 240 watt subwoofer. in my 9H by 10D by 13L room, this system can really deliver.
It is driven by a Sony STR-DE305 Stereo Receiver. I wish to get a better receiver but i dont have the money just yet. This model delivers about 100-125 watts per channel.
The kind of music i listen to are mostly from live concerts. the Christian Band Hillsong, have many many songs from concerts. other than that, i listen to Avalon, Celine Dion, Alliyah, Twelve Girls Band, Beyonce, Enya, Jessica Simpson, Mariah Carey, a few Rap/R&B songs, Spice Girls, TLC and Vineyard.
I am a bass head JFYI. but i do enjoy an ecstatic sonic experience. I use WMP and use the EQ to make sure the sound is consistent and to my favor. I do not use the SRS effects.
The little 5.25 inch woofer cant really reach the depths. its just an easy going little bass box. and its design really minimizes distortion.
The little 2.5 inch speakers are revealing of music. i notice subtleties more then the Polks, which i find very weird.
I think these speakers are great. the flaws arent much of a problem.
Be sure your gear is good too. i dont like my sony Receiver but its what i have. i suggest Denon, Onkyo, Harmon Kardon.
