An Amazing and Literate Look at the Zombie Scourge

Max Brooks has created a world where humanity is struggling to recover from a zombie uprising and in doing so offers glimpses into human nature that make the reader really examine humanity's will to survive and what we are capable of in the name of survival.

I was fortunate enough to hear the audio version of this novel and the cast provides stellar performances that bring you right into that post-apocalyptic world. Since I purchased this as an audio download I didn't have access to the cast list but there are some voices that may recognizable to the listener such as Carl and Rob Reiner, Alan Alda, Mark Hamill. Other voices sounded familiar but I'm having trouble placing them. I learned on IMDB that Brad Pitt's production company has won the bidding war for rights to film this and all I can say is that they had better pay close attention to the individual characters and their experiences in this work because that is what makes this work so insightful and unique.

In an interview on Ain't It Cool News, Brooks says that the audio version does not include one-half to two-thirds of the book. The result of this announcement is that I immediately called my local bookstore and reserved a copy of the hardcover release to pick up this evening.

In other words, this is a work I would highly recommend.
