This sisterhood is one to remember!
Date of Review: Sep 13, 2003
The Bottom Line: This book is a very genuine, special book that is great for groups of friends and families. The book teaches valuable and important lessons in friendship and life.
I recently read a book called The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants written by Ann Brashares. The book follows four teenage girls through their first summer apart from each other. Over the coarse of the summer, the girls remain connected not only through letters, but through a pair of magical pants that the four girls send from friend to friend every few weeks.
Despite the fact that the four girls have different body shapes the pants, (which were purchased from a thrift shop by one of the girls) fit each of the girls perfectly. The girls use the magical pants to stay close and connected with each other over the summer.
Main Characters
The main characters in the book are Tibby, Carmen, Bridget, and Lena.
Character description
Not only is each girl different in body shape and looks, but each girl has their own very unique personalities. Despite that fact that they are so different, the girls hold a bond that is un-breakable. This bond is called friendship.
Carmen is one of the main characters in the book. She is very out-spoken and funny, her trade mark is her very large butt.
Tibby is another main character in the book. She is skinny, somewhat "gothic", and caring.
Bridget is also one of the main characters in the book. She is athletic, attractive, and has hair the color of the peeled bananna. She is very outgoing and daring.
Lena is another main character in the book. She is very attractive and beautiful. She is fun to be around and loves to paint.

My experiance
I purchased this book for $8.95 at the Barns & Noble book store in Springfield, New Jersey. I really enjoyed reading this book. Not only did this book teach me the value of friendship, but it taught me about a special bond that friends can have even if they are apart for the first time. A each girl embarked on her own journey over the summer, they each learned a new lesson. The lessons were trust, acceptance of others, and the most important, frienship.
