Product Review

Integrity--No Compromise!

by   abhaille ,   Jan 20, 2000

Pros:  Good story, great characters, outstanding values

Cons:  Not everyone can appreciate it.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

The Fountainhead is simply my favorite book. I have been an avid reader all my life and I've never found another that "speaks" to me in the same way over and over again. I was an adult before I read this and truly did not put it down once I started (well, maybe to eat and sleep). I was and am profoundly moved by this novel.

I grew up in an environment that recognized character and integrity. I think that is why this book is so precious to me. The main character holds firm in his belief and convictions. He refuses to compromise his values or his ability in the face of virtually every temptation.

The view of mediocrity in this work is so challenging. Taking this book to heart, I pursue excellence in my own existence. I see so much of society in these pages, a sad statement to be sure. I talk to my students of integrity, I usually have to define it.

The Fountainhead is a marvelous character study. The people in this novel each have such a distinct "feel." There are people to abhor, to admire, to envy.

This book requires a certain level of intelligence to understand or appreciate. The story operates on several levels and has surrendered new meaning and insight to me with each reading.

Today, my oldest daughter asked for it to read. I'm a proud mom.
