Author's Review
I think this book is an essential for any collector of classic firearms. The book is divided into subsections of handguns, rifles, and shotguns. Many of the most popular models are covered in depth.
The information included on each model includes the history, development, and historical use of each firearm. Also included is an actual review of how each shoots, including accuracy, ease of use, and comfort. Some light disassembly is also covered.
One of the best things about this book is the quality of the photos. These photos are among the very best quality firearm photography I have ever seen. In addition, many of the photos are made with considerable effort to provide a good background, full of historical settings and accessories. Collectors and shooters both will probably end up displaying this book as a "coffee table" book.
My one gripe with this book is the relatively low number of firearms included. However, I do realize the need to fit the information into one book, instead of an encyclopedia like set.
Whether you want something to help fill out your firearms reference library, or just find out the background of a family heirloom, I highly recommend this book. I own many firearms books, but this is certainly among my favorites and quite reasonably priced. I feel that no firearm collectors library is complete without it.
