So Descriptive; yet horrifying

Date of Review:  Jun 7, 2000
Review: When I picked this book up, I had heard of it before, just never read it. It is what I call a "classic" book, along with "The Invisible Man" by H.G. Wells, and "The Catcher In The Rye" by J.D. Salinger.

Ray Bradbury describes how he wrote...

Am I Missing Something?

Date of Review:  Sep 26, 2005
The Bottom Line: I give it 2 out of respect. I did not like this book.
Review: Fahrenheit 451 is a thesis novel. It's a good novel, or at least that's what my English teacher says. But it really depends on what you think is a good novel. I, personally, like books that I enjoy. Don't call me old-fashioned, because apparently a...

Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 ignites my Fuhrer, er, furor

Date of Review:  Feb 14, 2006
The Bottom Line: is on fiyah! HE'S ON FIYAH!
Review: Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 is a cerebral novella that terrifies with its recollection of history and clairvoyance. The events depicted aren't farfetched in any way; reading Nien Cheng's Life and Death in Shanghai can prove their verisimilitude...

451: Burning Bright

Date of Review:  Mar 30, 2000
Review: The splash tag on this book is just as honest and prevalent today (if not more so) as it was at the time of the printing for the edition that I have (1976-the book is copyrighted for 1950): "One of the most important books of our time." Unlike most...

Don't Burn the Books-Deal With Them

Date of Review:  Aug 21, 2000
Review: Fahrenheit 451 is the best book I have ever read in my life. It started off as a class assignment, but i ended up finishing it like 2 weeks before we were supposed to. But, anyway, the reason this book was so good is because of its hidden message...

Brings fire into my life!

Date of Review:  Aug 23, 2004
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend reading this book, whether you're bored or it's on a list of summer readings you must do, or just for fun. Great book!
Review: I normally don't read books unless I'm required to for school. This book I randomly chose for a summer reading about 5 years ago, and till this day, my eyes light up when I think of this Fahrenheit 451!

type: Science Fiction

If You Can't Take the Heat, Get Out of the Library!

Date of Review:  May 3, 2000
Review: In this world, there are those who take for granted, and those who fully take in their internal and external self and community, appreciating the elements in life to the fullest. These are the artists, the writers, the leaders, the doers. These are...

Free Speech 101

Date of Review:  Apr 16, 2000
Review: As a semi-professional skeptic (which is a nice way of saying that I can't seem to find anyone who wants to pay me lavishly for writing about skepticism), I often get frustrated in dealing with others who disagree with my views. There are many...

The unexamined life

Date of Review:  Jul 3, 2001
The Bottom Line: Horrifyingly prescient and still striking out against those that would deny us the right to be different.
Review: "Fahrenheit 451" is a science fiction novel by Ray Bradbury.

Guy Montag is 30 and is having a mid-life crisis. Like all modern men having a mid-life crisis he gets involved with a younger woman. In a normal novel this would normally lead...

Burning Books...? Expectations Up In Flames

Date of Review:  Nov 26, 2001
The Bottom Line: Nothing special in my mind. Perhaps somewhat "revolutionary" for it's time, but a poor reflection on Bradbury in general. Try one of his later books first.
Review: After hearing so much about Ray Bradbury and this work in particular, I decided to pick up a copy and read it for myself. You see, this is one of those books that everyone reads in high school (or at least everyone did in my school) for some or...
