I love my two dogs, but I have a male that marks, all over, especially with the presence of the females. My fiance has two dogs and one is elderly and let me just say, a bit leaky. When we get them together, they have a blast, but, that also means we get a blast too. I bought this Spotbot to tend to the remnants of the dogs joyful reunions.
THE MACHINE
This domed shaped machine measures 18 inches across by 5 inches in depth by 14½ inches in height at the highest part of the dome. It has a heavy duty 15 foot cord, that self stores and a three prong plug. It is compact enough to fit in your hall closet.
This machine is completely self contained, (no assembly required) and it actually scrubs, cleans and vacuums by itself. Self contained on this unit is a 5 foot long hose attached with a manual brush (attached to the base), you can hand clean or vacuum up larger or more hard to get stains. I love that there are no pieces to store, or lose.
I do use the hand piece to vacuum up the moist area, after the self clean cycle. I have used it on the couch and dining room upholstery, it cleaned up without leaving rings.
It does use a fair amount of cleaner, but it is well worth the cost, not to have the aroma reeking through the house. Keep in mind also, that this is a spot cleaner, you don't use it for the entire carpet. I have found the 3 liter bottle of Bissell Natural Orange rug/upholstery cleaner at BJ's Wholesale for $14.99. Available also is the 48 ounce
Bissell Pet Odor and Stain Removal formula for the same price. How much do you spend on Resolve?
ACTUAL USAGE
Fill the clean reservoir to the line with the Bissell cleaning solution, add water, place the machine over the soiled area and push one button. You walk away, the machine does the rest. It sprays, scrubs and vacuums all by itself. There is a 3 minute and 6 minute cycle, the first for new stains the the second for set in stains. I believe the set in cycle is for recent stains, not 4 year old ones, but I'm sure it will help. There is also a manual mode, where you can clean by hand.
I used the hand tool on some old dark stains on a mattress. The mattress is white and although it did leave a minor ring, it was no where near as dark as the ring left by my manual scrubbing. I think the advantage here is that you can vacuum up the dirt into the machine rather than letting it re-dry on the mattress. For this purpose, the hose could be a little longer, unless you want to leave Spotbot on the mattress while doing this chore.
Another use for this machine, to clean the upholstery in my car. Again, I would like this machine to come with a longer hose, or an extension. It still does a great job and I'm very happy with it.
The seal on my car door leaked during a downpour and water had been accumulating in the drivers floor of my car. I grabbed by Spotbot, and wet vacuumed it all out of the carpet. This is one very handy machine to have on hand.
The Spotbot is easy to fill and easy to clean the waste water. Simply pop off the canisters and open the lids, rinse then you are done. Voila!
BOTTOM LINE
I bought this due to high recommendations on this website, and I'm very happy with my purchase. After owning this machine for over one and one half years, I am still thoroughly pleased with its results.
Bissell sells separately a cover that snaps on to the bottom of your machine. I forgot what I paid for it, but it is worth the investment. My brush is not damaged or bent and I don't have any drips.
Thank you for reading my review.
