Frustrating but useful

I bought it because I liked the idea of a separate switch instead of a keyboard sequence. It has some unfortunate quirks but it turns out to be a useful device.

The first problem (this is the USB product) is that when switching to my XP system, the keyboard and mouse were frozen for around 7 seconds. This was so annoying that I emailed Belkin technical support, and they replied that an unavoidable 3 to 7 second delay was was normal. (My cheap KVM switch had no delay.) Later I replaced the mouse with another device and found the delay reduced to 2 seconds or less, a big improvement.

The Flip is different than most cheap KVM switches, in that it contains a USB hub. Some USB devices like the Verticalmouse and the Logitech Trackman I replaced it with do not work unless connected directly to a USB hub. This means the cheap KVM switch does not work with these devices, but the Flip does.

Sometimes after my computers have been powered down the mouse and keyboard would not be recognized. After disconnecting and reconnecting the cables, and powering the computers off and on it would work again.
