Avery Binder: My Organizer
Date of Review: Jul 17, 2007
The Bottom Line: Using Avery View Binders has really helped organize my life. They are inexpensive and do a great job!
I am a huge hockey fan, and I collect lots of hockey cards. I've been adding to my collection for 8 years, and I really needed some way to organize them all. Enter the Avery Economy View Binders.
Description
* 1 1/2" thick vinyl binder
* Clear vinyl front pocket overlay
* Two storage pockets inside
Why I Love This Binder!
Actually, I have more than one, but I love them all. I also organize lots of crafts information in them, because they work so well. This binder is solid enough that it will stand alone, which makes my storage and organization much easier.
They are basic binders, and Avery says they hold up to 280 sheets of 11 x 8 1/2" paper. I use the clear protective
sleeves with them, so I don't get nearly that many sheets in my binders.
I have one binder for my hockey cards (I buy the clear sheets with pockets for my cards). I use one for my jewelry designs, and another for my knitting and crochet patterns. They keep all of my work organized and easy to find. I store the crafts binders in my craft room, on a bookshelf with all my reference materials and crafts books. Since the binders have the clear pocket in the front, I can easily identify the contents of each one. This is a unique and very helpful design!
There are rivets on the spine of the binder that hold the rings in place. Avery calls these rings "Gap Free". Not sure what that means, other than that the pages turn easily, which they do. There is no locking mechanism, I just pull the rings apart with my hands, being careful not to pinch them in the process. They open quite easily.
The inside pockets are pretty flimsy, they pretty much are thin vinyl that is stretched across one half of the inside front and inside back of the binder. They lay totally flat and don't hold much more than a few sheets of paper. I wouldn't attempt to add a pen or pencil, I just don't think they are made for that and the edges would probably tear away.
I purchased these at OfficeMax, when they were on sale for $2.50. They were available in black and white, I chose
white.
There are such cool back-to-school supplies out right now, and most of the binders in these sections of my store make
this Avery Economy View Binder look really old fashioned and plain. Well, it is. It's a no frills 3 ring binder. What appealed to me was the ability to identify my contents using the clear vinyl pocket on the front.
I have used these for about 9 years, and they are holding up well. The mechanism that opens and closes the rings is well made and I've had no issues with them jamming, bending or simply not working for me.
If you are looking for a good basic binder, this might be one to consider.
