How to Safely Sleep With Baby
Date of Review: Oct 27, 2000
Using the co-sleeper is like extending your bed to make a safe space just for your baby. No more worries about rolling over and crushing your wee one, but you can have the little angel right next to you. Our son slept in it until he was four months old, and would have stayed longer if he hadn't been such a big guy.
Even though the co-sleeper is somewhat difficult to set up and take down, we found this item to be one of the nicest things we bought for our new baby. I was thrilled to be able to lie in bed and reach over to easily touch my son during the night. He could see me when he was awake, and both my husband and I could hear every rustle of his movements without a monitor.
The co-sleeper is too heavy and large to take on an airplane unless you have someone to help you with it and you check it with your baggage, so we haven't flown with it. But we have put it in the trunk of the car and taken it on road trips.
You will not be able to make a perfect bed while the co-sleeper is attached to yours. Using your night stand might be difficult as well. Unless you put the co-sleeper right next to your pillow, it will be difficult to get in and out of bed, too. We attached it as high as possible to the mattress and moved the night stand to another place in the bedroom, and that worked well.
We have not used it as a play yard because we don't have any space for one, but we WOULD use it if we had more space.
I have recommended this product to several friends who have had babies recently, and all of them have raved about how much they like it.
