Product Review

Baby Product I would recommend the most if baby sleeps in your room!

by   jessie29 ,   Apr 23, 2008

Pros:  convenient for breastfeeding mother, great alternative to baby sleeping in bed, very secure

Cons:  fabric can pill, cosleeper only useful attached on bed for about 5 months

The Bottom Line:  Despite the negatives, I would recommend this product as a safe cosleeping alternative, it is wonderful to have your baby still at eye level, but not in your bed.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought this when my daughter was about 4 months old because she was sleeping in our bed with us because I was breastfeeding her and it was just so much easier having her in bed with us. As she got older she was rolling all over and I always ended up smooshed so I really wanted the space again to sleep. I ended up finding a used one which was wonderful because I wasn't sure if I would really use it. Well it turned out if I knew how much it helped me I would have gladly paid full price. This gave me back my bed and yet my daughter could still sleep next to me. I know someone has mentioned about not being able to breastfeed the baby while the baby is in the cosleeper, if that is what you plan on doing I do think it will be VERY difficult if not impossible. I just always ended up picking up my daughter and bringing her into bed with me to feed. This also has an attachment that goes under the bed and secures to the other side. This is a simple set of cords with a big plastic piece on the end that goes on the other side of the side of the bed to prevent the cosleeper from moving or falling away from the bed. This is a great feature! It definitely put my mind at ease that the baby was safe. The problems I have found with it is once my daughter was too old to be in the bassinet it was kind of useless, if I put her in the cosleeper without the bassinet it was basically a pack and play, which meant it was very difficult for me to sit on my bed and reach down into the pack and play and get her out. Also the extra sheets are expensive, I don't know if you can use regular pack and play sheets so that may be a cheaper alternative. And the fabric does not was well. Now I did buy it used so it is possible the people did not follow the care instructions and maybe that would make a difference, but the material on mine was pilled. Overall that is just a cosmetic thing that didn't make much of a difference to me. The convenience of having my daughter there by me out weighed the cosmetic flaws. One other thing to consider, unless you are using this as a pack and play it probably will only be good for about 5 months per child because once they start becoming more mobile the bassinet part needs to be removed. Also there are pockets located on the end of the unit, which allow you to store changing supplies or whatever you need to. As I said despite the cons I listed for me this is the number one product I would want for a new baby for cosleeping.
