Pros:  When working it does all advertised features well. Good size, reasonable battery life, simple navigation

The Bottom Line:  buyer beware - works well when working but just hope it doesnt break

Overall Rating: 2/5 stars

Author's Review

Ive had my 220 for about 8 months now. About 2 months after i had the exact same intial problem as you. No charge and then one day it just died.
I sent it back for warranty, but was asked by archos to go thru a local retail outlet (local to place of purchase (hong kong, i live in australia)) so the whole process took over 5 months!!! I finally get it back this afternoon (replaced under warranty with acknowledgement of power supply problem).
I charge it completely, plug it into my pc and start copying my music back to it. About 3-4hours later (i was ripping then copying cds) i noticed the gmini was off and it was no longer showing in windows.
To my suprise and GREAT dissappointment i was looking at the same lifeless device as i was months ago.
So once again i will have to send it away, wait months (more than likely will be out of warranty once i get it back) AND pay for frieght AGAIN!

The short enjoyment i got out of this product when it was working (bought pretty much solely for its unique direct line recording to mp3 and wav ability) has long disappeared only to be replaced with alot of unnecessary frustration and grief.

I initially laughed at a comment i read on a forum about this problem when it first happened... some guy experienced the same prob and same slow warranty response and was subsequently left with a $300-400US paper weight. He said he keeps it on the dash of his car so when he has a bad day he can throw it hard at the ground. I now know exactly how he feels. :(

In an ideal world id like to think i could get a refund or at least a free upgrade to a newer product minus the factory faults but i know my chances are slim.
