You Can't Touch This

I wanted to join the fray and get a iPhone along with the rest of the world, but I wasn't willing to switch cell phone providers. So, the next best thing is the iPod Touch which is fantabulous.

The moment I got it I was enamored. The touch screen capabilities are revolutionary with the ability to zoom in or out by "pinching" and scrolling through cover flow. It's good.

Of course, I had to "jailbreak" it to full utilize the awesome power of the iPod Touch. I was able to track down numerous sites and videos with info to do it. Jailbreaking allows you to add third party applications to the Touch and makes it that much more enjoyable. For a techie type of person its kind of fun to do this, but for average joe they may not want the hassle although they may like the applications.

I'm not one to run around with earphone stuck in my head all day, even though I really enjoy music. The touch has been relegated to more of a digital planner than a media device. The wireless function is nice and I use that at home and friends' places.

When I first got the Touch I was whipping it out all the time to look up stuff on the internet, but that has waned. I use it all the time in the bathroom. Excellent bathroom buddy.

The fact that I have to buy speakers to listen to music without the earphones has kept me from using that function more. Someday I may buy that, but not today.

Overall it is an amazing toy. Now if only you could get the phone on other carriers then I would not have to have a phone in one pocket and an iPod in the other.
