Save Your Sanity & Avoid This Headset
Date of Review: Feb 9, 2009
The Bottom Line: There are other headsets that will offer equal call quality with less fit issues.
I agree that, when used absolutely correctly, this headset sounds terrific. But using it "correctly", believe it or not, is harder than you think...More on that later...
The package consists of several ear buds to customize the fit of your new headset and it also ships with a few replaceable hooks for varying ear sizes. That's a nice addition. I'll admit, and not something many other brands offer. It's always good to have a choice and customizable fit option.
When used properly, the Jawbone 2 sounds great - Call quality was clear and unobstructed. It also connected easily with all Blackberries I tested (Storm, Curve, 8800...) and the Motorola Q, AT&T Tilt, and a few others - You may always call Jawbone or check their site for product compatibility.
Here's where the frustration will come into play - in a BIG way! The instructions state, and it's absolutely true, the Jawbone 2 needs to rest on your face - There's a little clear "nodule" on the end that sticks out just a tiny bit, and it is located near the bottom of the device. If this little nodule isn't actually touching the wearer's face, the call quality drops significantly - Believe me, it's true. And if you're like me, you will have a really hard time keeping it on your face. It's really tricky and will not remain there. Move your head a bit, and it pops off. Truly annoying and super frustrating!
It was also very difficult for me, at least, to get a good, tight fit around my ear I tried every possible combination of ear hooks and ear buds and it just kept "falling" off. I thought it was me, so I tried another headset (that I will review in another post) and it worked and fit perfectly. So it's not me and it won't be you either.
