I should have never strayed from Nvidia. . .

Date of Review:  Nov 14, 2003
The Bottom Line: I was open minded in believing that ATI could provide a better card than Nvidia, but after what I experienced, I'll never stray again!
Review: Allow me to begin this review by mentioning that I have gone through at least eight video cards since I bought my first IBM based PC back in '91. It's amazing what you get nowadays for the same amount of money you were spending just a year or two...

The New Graphics King

Date of Review:  Dec 1, 2002
The Bottom Line: Complete gaming package providing the best gaming experience, package contents, and support.
Review: I purchased this card when it first came out, September 2002. My old graphics card finally gave out, forcing me to look into new ones. There was a lot of hype around the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, saying it's the best 3D graphics performer and I decided...

Good for the money.

Date of Review:  Feb 28, 2003
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this card. It is very powerful for $350 and usually works with any system. If you want better cooling, go with a non-ATI card.
Review: I got my 9700 Pro for my birthday. I immediately put it in my Pentium 3 system (800Mhz P3 Coppermine on an FIC FA-11), replacing my older ATI Radeon 7200 with it. I hooked up the floppy power connector, and turned on my computer.

Windows...

I can't believe it's not nVidia (updated)

Date of Review:  Jan 22, 2003
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this card to anyone wishing to experience the best in visual quality and speed.
Review: The System

The system in which I put my Radeon 9700 Pro I built from scratch, so no drivers had to be uninstalled or hardware removed and replaced. It is an Intel P4 2.4Ghz, on a Soyo 4x400 Dragon Ultra motherboard with 1GB of DDR333 2700...

Good and Bad

Date of Review:  Jan 11, 2005
The Bottom Line: dont buy a used 9700 pro dont worth it. Buy a 9800 pro or above.they are more stable
Review: Well, I had this video card for about 1.5 years now, bought new for $400. First I had it with a athlon XP 2000+ and games ran smooth, on highest resolution on all games that came out that year, Max payne 2, Vice City. This beast can process all the...

Poor cooling makes this card worthless

Date of Review:  Feb 6, 2003
The Bottom Line: Despite having thought put into the speed, they clearly did not think of cooling it properly. And cooling is very important.
Review: Hearing the reputation of the 9700 Pro video card, I bought one. I loaded up Quake III, set the rendering options to maximum and the display size to 1024x768x32-bit color depth. Q3A played for 15 minutes before my system locked up. I rebooted...

Tough Transition

Date of Review:  Apr 4, 2003
The Bottom Line: All depends on if new card will fix the problem, or if I can get ATI to upgrade 9700 with a new 9800. We shall see!!
Review: Let me start as an A /Cisco/Network+ certified technician. I can usually wade my through most problems. Both a hardware installer and software developer - I've installed motherboards, chips, primary and slave hard drives, video cards, power sources,...

ATI RADEON 9700 - Speed or Stability?

Date of Review:  Dec 4, 2002
The Bottom Line: Expensive, and buggy, if you're ready to accept that and you really want ludicrously high speeds with all the eyecandy you can get, this is for you!
Review: After a long wait, ATI did the first giant step in the Graphic cpu units by kicking Nvidia's Gforce 4 with a total new GPU, first one calpable of doing 8 bit per pixel processing.

Not all things are honey in this video card, as usual...

Oh boy, what a bad idea

Date of Review:  Dec 21, 2002
The Bottom Line: I will never give ATI business again - the negative comments were true about this card, just look at how I had to learn the hard way.
Review: Let me start off by mentioning that I'm a seasoned hardware installer - I've been doing the stuff for over 10 years. I've installed motherboards, chips, primary and slave hard drives, video cards, power sources, and updated BIOS, as well as many...
