Product Review

Not bad, but not great.

Pros:  Smooth sound. Nice aesthetic design.

Cons:  They don't play very loud at all. Not for serious listening.

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

I was looking for a nice pair of computer speakers, that weren't all that expensive, when I found these at Amazon.com. I found a refurbished pair for $6.99, which sounded like a pretty good deal, so I bought them right away. I have to admit that they look pretty nice, and the sound is pretty smooth, and well-balanced, but I'm disappointed at the volume (which isn't particularly loud).
They're rated at 2 watts per channel, with 230 Watts P.M.P.O, which I guess is supposed to mean peak output power. They're loud enough for the average listener to hear, but that's about as far as it goes. If you try to crank them up past midpoint on the volume knob, watch out! They'll distort like crazy. Sort of like interstation hiss on a radio tuner. Anyhow, they're okay for non-critical listening, but that's about it. If you want something really nice, try a good pair of Labtec or Altec Lansing speakers--they're a much better investment.
