Author's Review
I just purchased a 2006 Grand Prix for my son. We purchased the base model, and have been very pleased with the car.
I've previously owned a Honda Civic, BMW 325, and Lexus IS300, and the Grand Prix compares well to those 3. It feels quicker and more responsive than my Lexus, which is a surprise, and handling is decent. The 8 speaker stereo system surpasses what was provided by Honda, and as you'd expect there is more passenger room in the Pontiac than in any of the other 3 vehicles.
Although there are a few aspects that are obviously cheaper than the BMW or Lexus (no outside thermometer, no fuel door lock, no sun roof, rear cupholders don't retract), that's to be expected considering I could purchase 2 Grand Prix's for the price of 1 of those vehicles. The major annoyance was a rattling dash which was easily fixed.
Finally, the appearance is great as it's one of the few 4 door sedans that passed the "cool" test among the teenage crowd, and fortunately Pontiac didn't have to resort to plastic body mouldings to produce a great looking car.
