3Com 56K Faxmodem Internal
Date of Review: Jun 4, 2000
Did I tell you that I am a 3Com fan. However I didn?t own a 3Com U.S. Robotics Modem because I bought an Emachine system that came with an internal 56k modem which is not 3Com but it?s not 3Com. Actually I bought one for my sister for her system. The system is used to be mine. We shared this system for a couple years. It?s a first system that I have built for new experience about computer. I built the system when the first Pentium generation, you can call it 586, came out. The system is working fine except freezing on us. Maybe I did something wrong with the system that I didn?t know or I didn?t wear a static prove when I built it up, or maybe at that time the Pentium chip is not completed (Intel...don?t take it personal)...:-)...
The reason I buy an Emachine because we want to go to Internet...the Emachine has that option ?including modem included and free internet access. And because at that time if I build a new same system the cost will be the same price why bother. At that time I didn?t buy an extra modem for my sister because I used network to share Internet connection for to use as the same time. It?s working fine for us except when I go to work or school, she has to go to my room using my computer instead of turning it both on. Therefore, I end up bought an internal 56k Winmodem 3Com U.S Robotics which cost $99.99 plus tax is over $100. It?s way cool and worth the money. I don?t have to do any setting because it?s a plus-and-play (I call it Plug-and-?Pray?). All I do is open the case, plug it in, and really to rock. Until now it works like a charm except, you know, freezing up one or twice with a "blue screen of death" but not the modem fault...:-)...maybe time for a new machine for her..I will build another one soon or later. By the way, did I tell you about last weekend. I went to swap meet and bought two network cards and one modem, of course, 56k Winmodem U.S. Robotics Internal. You know how much it cost for that modem ? only 45 bucks. It?s opened box and came with driver CD. The guy that sold it to me told that it?s still work but I don?t know why I trusted that guy to buy that modem. And you know what I sold the modem to my buddy for $50 (which is $5 entrance fee that he insisted) and setup that modem for him, too.
Pardon me for push around the brush...Don?t get bored. I hope my epinion is helpful to your decision of buying.
