Product Description

The culmination of his life's work, "The Denial of Death is renowned anthropologist Ernest Becker's inspiring and revolutionary answer to the "why" of human existence. In Becker's daring and convincing challenge to the classic Freudian school of thought, he sees his fellow humans as constant fighters, struggling against inherent ambiguities in themselves and in the world, while trying to define themselves and to achieve immortality. Becker sees the denial of death as man's driving force to distinguish himself beyond the grave. This ground breaking work is now reissued to take its rightful place on the shelf with our most influential works on man's interior existence.

life changing Pulitzer Prize winner. A True Masterpiece

Date of Review:  Dec 19, 2003
The Bottom Line: This is the best philosophy/psychology book I've ever read. It changed my entire thought process. I recommend it to anyone who wants to look at their lives more deeply.
Review: "The Denial of Death," which won the Pulitzer prize in 1974 was written as the author, Ernest Becker, was dying of cancer. This specter is in the background of every word he writes here, and I think, forces the author to confront death with an...
