This HDTV is able to receive both analog and digital signals via over-the-air broadcasts. If you subscribe to cable or satellite TV service, be sure to request an HD-capable set-top receiver from your service provider. Then, simply connect the receiver to the TH-58PX60U using either the component video or HDMI inputs and enjoy the clarity, detail, and vivid colors of HDTV. This 58" screen also delivers the full cinematic impact of your favorite DVD movies. Panasonic's latest plasma panel technology raises the all-important contrast ratio to a remarkable 10,000:1. That means you'll see deeper blacks and more realistic shadow detail. Panasonic also found a way to eliminate "false contouring" — a form of picture distortion that makes the transitions between different shades of the same color appear too sharp and abrupt, giving scenes an artificially layered look. The TH-58PX60U can reproduce up to 29 billion colors in total, with over 3,000 shades of gradation.
