Product Description

Who better to bring Roald Dahl's adored children's story to life than the mastermind behind inventive films like EDWARD SCISSORHANDS and BEETLEJUICE? From Tim Burton's opening shot--against Danny Elfman's eerie score--this CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY is recognizably darker than the Mel Stuart-directed 1971 version starring Gene Wilder. Though the mysterious chocolate factory has been closed for 15 years, it continues to produce and ship candy all over the world. When a contest promises a tour of the plant to the lucky finders of five golden tickets hidden inside wrappers, no one is more excited than Charlie Bucket (Freddie Highmore), an impoverished boy whose family lives mere steps from the factory. Though he can barely afford even one candy bar, fate intervenes, and Charlie finds the last golden ticket.

Joined at the gates by a group of despicable brats named Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Augustus Gloop, and Mike Teavee, Charlie and his Grandfather (David Kelly) venture inside propr...

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory (2005)

Date of Review:  Jul 16, 2005
The Bottom Line: Don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he ever wanted... He lived happily ever after.
Review: Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory (1971) is one of those movies I must have watched over a hundred times as a kid. Even just writing about it, I can hear the music in my head as Charlie goes to open that last candy bar...

The prospect...

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) - A Johnny Depp Sundae with Tim Burton Sprinkles

Date of Review:  Aug 10, 2005
The Bottom Line: I wonder if Wonka makes giant cookies?
Review: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory - you know, the one with Gene Wilder - used to play once a year on TV when I was a kid. Only once, and I relished every delicious moment. Oh, the lickable wallpaper, the chocolate river, the delectable fantasy...

Chocolate Galore in a Fantasy Movie Feast

Date of Review:  Jul 24, 2005
The Bottom Line: This is a fun, entertaining remake of the classic novel.
Review: Children's movies are not often the type I recommend. Many of them, even if they manage to pull together a semi- believable plot and a good cast of Hollywood actors and actresses, are often childish, silly, and devoid of anything meaningful or...

Not my favorite by Tim Burton
3/5 stars
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Full Screen Edition) is not my favorite of Tim Burton's movies, but it has some good moments, a good techno soundtrack and some visually stunning images.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
4/5 stars
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a sometimes wierd but very enjoyable movie about a poor boy who wins a once in a lifetime opportunity to tour Willy Wonka's chocolate factory along with a few other kids. They get to see how all the candy is made and eat almost anything they want, but will they survive to tell the tale?
